Emotional Wellness Toolkit

Emotional wellness is the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt to change and difficult times.

We used the strategies by National institute of Health, and Ginger's app resources to curate the BeWix Emotional Wellness toolkit. Check it out!

Build resilience

What does it mean?

People who are emotionally well, experts say, have fewer negative emotions and are able to bounce back from difficulties faster. This quality is called resilience. Learning healthy ways to cope and how to draw from resources in your community can help you build resilience.

What do we offer?

A 3-session virtual workshop focused on building resilience with Dr. Tiffany Loggins.

1. Recognize and Appreciate Your Emotions:

Wednesday, October 19th @ 11am PT/2pm ET

Our emotions are important physiological experiences that serve to urge us to action to better meet our needs.  However, we are often taught to ignore, get rid of, or numb out negative or unpleasant emotions through years of self or others invalidating our experiences. This can lead to reliance on unhealthy coping styles, and exacerbate pain and suffering, because our emotional states can impact our motivation to engage or not engage in certain behaviors. The goal of this session goal is to help you identify and recognize your emotions to help break away from old, unhelpful patterns of thinking and doing to unearth the best version of yourself.

2. Navigate Emotions:

Wednesday, October 26th @ 11am PT/2pm ET

Stress causes all sorts of problems, including potentially changing your ability to choose the right coping behavior and intensify unpleasant emotions. It is why substances (e.g., food, drugs), and avoidance behaviors may be used to self-medicate uncomfortable emotions away. In this session, you'll focus on the reasons people rely on unhealthy coping and self-medication to cope, and how to manage and replace unhealthy coping mechanisms with healthier adaptive behaviors and cognitive strategies to boost resiliency.

3. Creating a Sustainable Lifestyle of Resiliency and Coping:

Wednesday, November 2nd @ 10am PT/1pm ET

Pain happens, but suffering is creating. Although you’ve learned to recognize and gained better tools to improve emotional resiliency, you may still find yourself feeling stuck or overwhelmed, because yet again, you’ve arrived at that familiar place of ruminating self-doubt or self-defeating behaviors. In order to re-learn and make life-long behavior changes, it will require the incorporation of daily practical habits and lifestyle changes. In this session, you will learn behavioral strategies to help you stay consistent and/or quickly rebound when you fall off track.

Build Resilience
Reduce stress

What does it mean?

Everyone feels stressed from time to time. Stress can give you a rush of energy when it’s needed most. But if stress lasts a long time - a condition known as chronic stress - those “high-alert” changes become harmful rather than helpful. Learning healthy ways to cope with stress can also boost your resilience.

What does it mean?

The concept of mindfulness is simple. This ancient practice is about being completely aware of what’s happening in the present—of all that’s going on inside and all that’s happening around you. It means not living your life on “autopilot.” Becoming a more mindful person requires commitment and practice. Here are some tips to help you get started.
